MEET BISHOP GEORGE WHITE, JR. , TH.D

Born in Yazoo City, Mississippi on August 15, 1947, Dr. George White Jr. pursued higher education at Mississippi Valley State University and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeast Missouri State University. He obtained his Doctorate’s Degree in Sacred Theology from New Life School of Theology.

Dr. White is a U.S. Army veteran, whose service included a tour of duty in South Vietnam from 1967-1968.  After his discharge, he joined the St. Louis Police Department, from which he retired as sergeant.

In 1981, Dr. White and his family joined West End Mt. Carmel under the leadership of the late Reverend J.E. Turner and serving as a Sunday school teacher, guitar player, evangelism leader and deacon.  In 1989, he became the Interim Pastor of West End Mt. Carmel and the membership increased from 269 members to 600 in a year and a half's time.  The membership voted unanimously to make him the full-time Pastor of the church.

After seeking a more spiritual relationship with the Lord, he experienced the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ through the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, under the leadership of Bishop Paul S. Morton Sr.  Following the flow of that Movement, the church became West End Mount Carmel Full Gospel Baptist Church.  Dr. White served in several capacities during his affiliation with the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, including State Bishop of Missouri and International Bishop of Evangelism.  He carries the vision of “Expanding The Parameters of The Church To Meet The Needs of The Community” as he continues to make a difference in the lives of many people.

​Bishop White has served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Department of Mental Health Regional Advisory Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Chairman, Emeritus of Committed Caring Faith Communities, Board of Directors of Faith House, Vice President of the Board of Directors of New Beginnings Treatment Center, a Board Member of AACID Committee (African American Churches in Dialogue) and board member of St. Louis for Kids.  Currently he serves as Chairman of the Board for the West End Mount Carmel Community Outreach Center and Vice President of St.Vincent Greenway.  He has received numerous awards, recognitions and honors, to include several Mayoral Proclamations from the City and County of St. Louis.

​Residing in Florissant, MO with his wife Sharon, he is the loving father of seven children; five girls, two boys and including eight wonderful grandchildren.
